TORONTO, August 25, 2026 – The second Toronto Chinese Traditional Culture Festival, together with the Canada Qilu Association’s 21st Summer Picnic, will be held on September 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bayview Reservoir Park. Organizers expect nearly 1,000 participants from Chinese community groups, local residents and families across the Greater Toronto Area.
The event is jointly organized by several Chinese community organizations, including the Chinese Canadian United Council, the Federation of Canadian Shenzhen Associations, the Canada-China Realty Professional Association and the Canada Qilu Association. The one-day event will feature traditional cultural displays, performances, food and outdoor recreational activities.
The site will include Shandong-style food and other traditional Chinese foods. For residents from different parts of Shandong, organizers also plan to set up hometown signs for Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, Weifang, Linyi and other areas, making it easier for participants to find people from the same region.
The cultural program will include singing, dancing, music and other performances. There will also be tug-of-war, volleyball, poker games and other competitions and interactive activities. A lucky draw, as well as gifts for seniors and children, will also be part of the event, with activities designed for different age groups.
The Canada Qilu Association Summer Picnic has been held for 20 consecutive years and will mark its 21st edition this year. By combining it with the Chinese Traditional Culture Festival, organizers are adding more cultural and family-oriented entertainment to the existing hometown gathering.
Organizers said they hope the event will provide an in-person gathering opportunity for Chinese residents across the Greater Toronto Area, while helping younger generations learn more about Chinese culture through food, performances and traditional cultural activities.
