The Foundation extended its heartfelt gratitude to 35 sponsors, donors, ticketholders, and volunteers who contributed generously to this year’s event under the theme “Love. No Time to Wait.” Hanson Canada, one of Dragon Ball’s largest sponsors over the past six years, was the special host for this appreciation event at its modern campus.

The thank-you party also witnessed the 20-year cooperation milestone between Hanson Canada and Cambrian College.

The 36th Dragon Ball, held during this year’s Lunar New Year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, was a resounding success, raising $1.14 million in support of Yee Hong’s elder care services and the development of its fifth long-term care centre in Scarborough.

Yee Hong Foundation President Tim Kwan (萧显扬) reflected on the success of this year’s gala and expressed confidence in the future:

“Although Canada’s economic outlook remains uncertain, we remain resilient and embrace challenges as opportunities. As this year’s appreciation theme ‘Together We Thrive’ suggests, with the unwavering support of our sponsors and donors, we are confident in achieving yet another milestone for this flagship fundraising event.”

Over the past three decades, Dragon Ball has raised over $24 million, benefiting Chinese and other ethno-cultural seniors across the GTA.

Looking ahead to 2026, Kwan emphasized that the Automotive Building in Exhibition Place offers a spacious venue capable of accommodating over 1,000 guests. He promised a uniquely memorable celebration for the upcoming Year of the Horse, combining philanthropy, creativity, and community spirit.

At the event, Yee Hong’s new CEO Glen Chow shared updates on the progress of the fifth Yee Hong long-term care centre, which is expected to welcome its first residents by mid-2026.

Yee Hong Founder and Foundation Chair Dr. Joseph Wong reiterated his appreciation to all sponsors and donors, encouraging continued engagement to support culturally appropriate care services for seniors.

The event also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Yee Hong Foundation and Hanson Canada. The MOU marks a strengthened partnership in areas including education, health care, and community services, showcasing their shared commitment to intergenerational collaboration and enhanced community well-being. The agreement was signed by President Tim Kwan and Hanson Canada CEO Philip Ma, with leaders from partner institution Cambrian College as witnesses.

The event also marked a milestone—20 years of collaboration between Hanson Canada and Cambrian College, a partnership that has produced over 20,000 graduates and notable contributions to education and community development.

Special guests in attendance included:

  • Jonathan Tsao, MPP for Don Valley North and former Yee Hong board member
  • Frank Scarpitti, Mayor of Markham
  • Godwin Chan, Deputy Mayor of Richmond Hill
  • Alan Ho, Regional Councillor of Markham
  • Stephen Sun, Chair of the Foundation of the Canada-China Realty Professional Association

In his closing remarks, Dr. Joseph Wong emphasized:

“This gathering not only expresses gratitude to our corporate, media, and community partners for their past support, but also serves as a moment to look ahead together. We remain committed to building a better future for seniors and continuing the legacy of Yee Hong.”(LJI by Rudy)
