TORONTO, August 25, 2026 – Toronto parents preparing to register their children for swimming, skating or sports programs can now start choosing classes. The City of Toronto has opened its fall recreation program listings, with about 16,000 programs and more than 148,000 spaces available. Most programs will begin in late September.
Residents can now log in to their City account to search for programs in advance and add preferred options to their wish list. The actual registration date depends on age group and where the resident lives.
The earliest registration this year will be for residents who qualify for Early Local Registration. People living near designated free community recreation centres can begin registering at 7 a.m. on September 9, about one week earlier than residents in other areas.
Programs for residents aged 60 and older will open for registration at 10 a.m. on September 14. Registration for Toronto, East York and Etobicoke will open at 7 a.m. on September 15, while North York and Scarborough will open at 7 a.m. on September 16.
The scope of early registration has also expanded this year. Starting this fall, all Toronto Free Recreation Centres are included in Early Local Registration. Residents can check whether they qualify based on their home address.
Many popular children’s swimming, skating and sports programs in Toronto have filled quickly in past years. The City recommends that residents add programs to their wish list in advance and make sure family member details and contact information in their account are correct.
If a program is already full when registration opens, residents can join the waitlist. If someone later withdraws, the system will send emails in waitlist order. Residents who receive an available space must confirm within the required time.
Most fall programs will begin during the week of September 26. Families planning to register can choose course numbers, locations and times now, so they are ready to sign up directly on the correct registration date.（LJI by Yuanyuan）
